Dihydrotestosterone is a biologically active form of Testosterone, which is formed from it in the cells of the target organs by the enzyme 5alpha-reductase, which determines male sex characteristics.

DHT is the strongest natural androgen. It defines the physical development during puberty in males, regulates sexual behavior and erectile function, the development of the genitals in men and prostate. Its concentration is highest in the skin of the genitals and in hair follicles. Baldness in men and women is caused by a genetic predisposition to action of DHT.

With increased production of DHT in the hair follicles associates excessive body hair growth and / or "male" type of hair loss on the head in both sexes.

With the reduced formation of dihydrotestosterone from testosterone, bind one form of testicular feminization syndrome - insensitivity of tissues to testosterone.

DHT inhibits the production of LH more testosterone.

According to research by scientists at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, Creatine increases levels of dihydrotestosterone.
